| "My career in professional photography began 20 years ago in Campbell River. I was always stopping the car to photograph a shepherd with her sheep, or perhaps flock of birds flying overhead or an angler grappling with a salmon. Gradually those photographs found their way into the local newspapers and later into publications up and down Vancouver Island. In some cases they found their way across Canada, the USA and Asia. Fifteen years ago I started began working and photographing in Langley. I have made many friends here and have probably driven on nearly every road. It was on those roads that these images presented themselves. Each one has a story - a freezing cold foggy morning or a long wait in bird hide waiting for a bird land on a branch. The images in the book are my favourites, selected from many thousands. Some were taken with film, others with a digital camera. However much the method of recording light may have changed over the years the mountains, the river and the pastures still remain the same, changing only as the seasons change. I really hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoyed being there with my camera." John Gordon |
